Bala Lake Railway
50th Anniversary Gala
Saturday 27th August 2022
Celebrating 50 years since the first train ran on the Bala Lake Railway, over the August Bank Holiday weekend a special anniversary steam gala was held. The event featured two visiting steam engines joining the home fleet on an intensive two train passenger service, with demonstration slate trains running in between passenger trains between Llanuwchllyn and Llangower.

Quarry Hunslets Winifred, George B and Maid Marian
Liassic joined sister locomotive Triassic, which is not currently steerable. The pair of locomotives worked at Southam Cement Works, Warwickshire. Towards the end of the day the pair of locomotives 'double headed' a passenger service.
The 1 ft 11 5⁄8 in narrow gauge line is on the formation of the former Great Western route from Ruabon to Barmouth.
