Holy Week in Colombia is a time for colourful and unique celebrations.
All the villages hold their own individual festivities to mark one of the most important occasions in their calendar.
The Passion Play in Sachica and procession in Tunja are two of the best known events that draw huge crowds.
The celebrations however never lose sight of the real message of Easter.
For 37 years, the town of Sachica has hosted one of the best-known Passion Plays in Colombia.
Located in the state of Boyaca, northeast of the country's capital, Bogota, the residents spend months preparing for the event which includes the representation of biblical characters.
Sachica's play begins with the baptism of Jesus' in the River Jordan, and narrates traditional scenes such as Jesus' triumphant entrance to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and the Last Supper.
Those taking part take their roles very seriously and put in hours of practice so they are just perfect for the part on the big day.

Strapped onto a cross the re-enactment of Jesus' crucifixion looks almost real - a reminder of the real message of Easter.
This Andean community closely identifies with Israel, the home of Jesus.
It calls itself the Jerusalem of Colombia because of the desert-like conditions. It is also one of few places in Colombia where olives are grown
On Good Friday another town in Boyaca - Tunja - celebrates its 400-year tradition with a procession.
Church leaders head the colourful procession which draws huge crowds every year.
Tunja is the capital of Boyaca (state) - in the 16th century the town was a political, cultural and religious power centre.
