Wrapping up Day 1 of the 2024 GivingTuesday Africa Summit, there were several powerful moments that set the stage for meaningful discussions to come. One key takeaway was how storytelling, partnerships, and data are the driving forces behind the GivingTuesday global strategy.
From Chris Worman’s insightful session on movement goal setting and how to empower leaders with access to training and resources, to Nthanze Musyoka’s reflections on goal measurement and data collection, the message was clear: If we want to grow, we need to be ambitious and strategic. Setting SMART goals—goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound—is critical to creating lasting impact.
Leaders shared their strategies for mobilizing communities and expanding the movement, reminding us of the importance of grassroots capacity building. As Silvia said, programs like Change the Game are co-created to help grassroots organizations become self-reliant and able to mobilize local resources.
We’re off to an incredible start, and I’m excited to see how our collective insights will shape the future of generosity in Africa and beyond. Looking forward to Day 2 and the next round of thought-provoking discussions!
