The necropolis of the San Cerbone, Baratti is one of the most important cemeteries of the ancient Etruscan city, Populonia.
The dig section depicted in this video is that of a Tumulus Tomb, probably dating back to the 7th century BCE. A tumulus tomb usually consists of a large circular earth mound atop a stone 'drum' with a rectangular almost square burial chamber with in. The burial chamber is most often laid out in the style of a bedroom with stone slab 'beds' where the interred would be laid. - See more at: [ Ссылка ]
Here across the afternoon volunteers clean up the the dig area in preparation for documentation, which will include a basic sketch with dimensions and photographic support.
