Chairman of the Special Olympics International, Timothy Shriver, was joined by Chinese Olympioan, Yang Yang, at the Special Winter Olympic Games in South Korea.
Timothy Shriver, Chairman and CEO of SOI:
"So we feel very proud that we are providing a whole message around about what Special Olympics means. Olympics in our view means effort, it means courage, it means determination, it means bravery, you know, it doesn't just mean achievement. It means what you put inside you. So we think we bring that to the Olympic movement and we are very grateful that the Olympic movement has recognized that of those qualities of our athletes."
Yang Yang, Chinese Olympian:
"I am looking forward to developing the Special Olympics in China. I do believe it will happen because more and more organizations in China have started accepting and recognizing the concept of the Special Olympics. Sport can really make a contribution to social development and I'm looking forward to it."
Timothy Shriver, Chairman and CEO, SOI:
"Well you know, a lot of celebrities coming here and people think they are here because they are trying to show off their celebrity but I think most of the celebrities are here because they need it and I think they are the example of the whole world hungry for authentic, honest, open and human pursuit, human spirit. So I think the celebrities are here and they are having a great time because they are learning from our athletes."
