Onega Bay of the white sea is an archipelago of 266 islands, also home to the Solovetsky Monastery. With a history of demolition and sieges, Solovetsky was once the largest cathedral in Northern Russia until turned into a prison camp. Its architectural excellence reflects within the gothic structures, heritage murals, orthodox churches, and detailed iconostasis, a great artistic ensemble of the Russian Empire.
