Over forty five million Americans live in poverty, that's 14.5% of the population of the world's wealthiest country. When Linda Tirado posted her experiences on what it's like living hand to mouth on a daily basis, her essay was read over eight million times and resulted in a book deal. Linda went from a night shift diner cook to speaking at the London School of Economics. She's in Australia to deliver the keynote address at the Australian Council of Social Service national conference and she warns Australia not to follow the US down the wealth inequality path.
