Electric vehicle load impacts the grid. The success of private charging models and public charging programs will be determined in part by the location of charging assets, particularity L3 (DC fast) chargers. Given traffic data, existing station locations, and PEV penetration projections, spatial network optimization can solve how to best set up EV charging infrastructure, with applications in program design, IRP planning, and distribution planning.
