General disclaimer - Obviously you are doing so at your own risk. Modifying any medical device is dangerous and should only be performed by professionals. I would only recommend doing this if you have an old S9 or AS10 that you no longer use because it's broken etc and you just want to fix it up as a back up or perhaps travel unit etc.

Hi everyone, a good friend asked me to take a look at his AirSense 10 as it was starting to make a strange noise. I'm not an electrical engineer but i have fixed a few machines in my time and a lot of the time it can be quite a simple little fix that doesn't even require any replacement parts.
I could tell as soon as i turned it on that it was probably a motor fault which would require a replacement motor but i just thought i would show you the different components and how the machine fits together. Many manufacturers charge through the nose for different components and the labour is normally charged out at well over $150/ hour to work on them. Some manufacturers also have fixed price servicing. I believe Philips charges a flat $450 fee to fix anything on a device.
As a society we tend to just throw things away when they stop working instead of trying to fix them up :-). There's a great feeling of achievement when you fix something that's no longer working and i highly recommend you have a go next time something breaks.
Hope you're all doing well. Take care
Nick
