Canada just one of several countries restricting travel to the United Kingdom.
The U.K. just recorded more than 40,000 new cases; the biggest single-day increase since the pandemic began.
The highest infection rates are in and around the London-area, where it is believed the majority of new cases are caused by the more infectious new strain of the novel coronavirus.
As Redmond Shannon reports, the surge in new cases is putting further strain on the country's health-care system.
