On Friday, April 15th, 2022, I once again ventured to the southern Illinois region to get footage of CN traffic in the area. The first train of the day was a 3 hour late Amtrak 58 "City of New Orleans", arriving into Centralia, IL after 7:30 AM. This was followed by northbound CN A431 with a BNSF/NS combo. Throughout the day, multiple trains of interest would be caught, with BNSF, KCS, BC Rail, and Illinois Central Deathstar SD70s being the biggest highlights.
CN Local jobs L588 and L544 both ran around the same time frame, so I chased the L544 and filmed them interchanging with the Kaskaskia Port RR (KPRD), in addition to chasing the KPRD returning, as well.
Shortly after finishing up with them, I intercepted L588 (formerly ran as L504) heading back east near Baldwin, IL, and all the way down to Percy, IL, on the former GM&O. They would swap out consists near Sparta, IL, and run down to Captain Mine near Percy. My chase would finish at Percy, where the CN and UP Pickneyville Sub intersect and the train would continue onward, not getting back into Centralia until after dark.
A highly productive day for WR Productions in Southern Illinois. Special thanks to fellow railfan TrainmanBrodie for joining on the full day of CN action and more. *If you like what you're watching and want to see more quality RR content, please Like and Subscribe to the channel!
