This piece was written for Trinity Laban's Daryl Runswick Competition.
To write this piece, I wrote code that would take data from the stock market and turn it into pitch material. I used stock market data from the day the UK went into its first lockdown.
The data also generated a graph which I used for the overall structure of the piece, which is why it starts off very dense, and finishes with a very sparse Viola and Harp duet.
The theme of the competition was "distance" and I had the idea of highlighting the fact we use the stock market as a measure of how well the economy is doing even though kids are starving and we have a homeless population of 280,000.
