An unsafe nuclear project of Rosatom – the Ostrovets NPP – is about to be launched in Belarus, 45 km from #Lithuania‘s capital. This geopolitical project of Russia poses a great threat to the entire region as it does not ensure a sufficient level of safety.
Nevertheless, the first batch of fuel was delivered to the Ostrovets NPP in May and it is due to be launched soon, despite the unjustified location, violation of nuclear and environmental safety requirements, lack of safety culture and no transparency.
Violation of int'l conventions, such as Espoo and Aarhus, raises serious concerns, while the existing facts of low safety culture and ignorance at the NPP rings an alarming bell. Read more about the violations:

As Ursula von der Leyen stated, “As Belarus is a direct neighbour, it must ensure highest possible safety standards.” ([ Ссылка ]). In case of serious NPP accident, the whole Europe would be affected. There must be no unsafe projects at EU doorstep.
