Hi friends
Do you know what is madhubani?
Madhubani means “forest of honey”.
Madhubani art is a style of Indian painting. It is also known as Mithila art too as it is practiced in the MITHILA region of the Indian subcontinent.
This painting can be done by using fingers, twigs, brushes, bib pens, matchsticks.
Initially rice paste and natural colours obtained from flowers, leaves, burnt grains and turmeric were used.
The brush was a twig with cloth or cotton wrapped around one end but to popularise they are now created on handmade paper . Some artists also use poster colours , markers, nib pens etc.....the colours applied art flat with no shades.
Most common motifs in madhubani art is like sun , moon, fish, birds, animals, god, goddesses. Birds and animals like the peacock, parrot, elephant, fish and tortoise are also very popular.
