Catalonia's former regional president Carles Puigdemont says he will appeal the European Parliament's decision to remove his political immunity. He is wanted for sedition over the organisation of a banned separatist referendum in 2017. For the Spanish government, it is welcome news, opening the path to demanding his extradition.
