Mick Lockhart from Parkway Studios review the Sennheiser MD421 microphone, find out what applications it's best used in and why so many major recording studios around the world have these laying around everywhere.
The Sennheiser MD421 dynamic microphone is seen most commonly on drums, especially Toms - but they excel with horns, kick drums, overheads, vocals, guitar and bass amps just to name a few. If it has high SPL then this microphone will handle it easily.
It has a 5 point bass rolloff down 5db from 500hz which makes it a very versatile microphone and it brings you so many colour options to your mix.
Mick explains the "cons" as well as the "pros" to this microphone, but highly recommends it to all users and stands behind his decisions to own a bunch of them in his studio.
