Hey guys, welcome back. In today's video, I'll guide you through the process of setting up a VPN on your router, including tips on the most reliable and user-friendly options. By the end of it, your router will be connected to the VPN provider, and all your network traffic will be routed through this connection, eliminating the need to install individual apps on each device in your home and avoiding device limitations.
First, check if your router is compatible with a VPN. Refer to your router’s manual to see if it supports OpenVPN client functionality. Routers with versions 2.4 or above are recommended for the best experience. If your router is from your internet service provider, it might not be configurable. Make sure your router supports the necessary setup as there might be variations among models.

Step-by-Step VPN Router Setup with ExpressVPN

I'll be using ExpressVPN as the VPN provider for my router, which I found to be extremely reliable. To set up a VPN on the router, first log into the router's control panel using the code "192.168.1.1" in your browser's address bar. The default username and password are usually "admin". Once logged in, navigate to the VPN option in the left sidebar, then to the VPN client at the top. Click on Add Profile and fill in your credentials in the OpenVPN tab.
Your ExpressVPN username and password can be found on the ExpressVPN website under the My Account section. Download the necessary setup files for your VPN service using ExpressVPN’s server finder tool. Upload these files where you entered your service credentials and activate the VPN by tapping the activate button in your router settings. If configured correctly, you should see a blue checkmark indicating a successful connection. Note that the setup process may vary depending on your router and chosen VPN service.
