ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this video Dr. Guymon, Dr. EyeGuy, explains what a pterygium is, what causes a pterygium, and what the treatment for a pterygium is. Pterygium can be a common growth on your eye. Sometimes it can look like a white spot on your cornea. If it gets inflamed, then it can look red and irritated. People who have a lot of sun exposure and live in dry, dusty environments are more likely to get a pterygium. It's commonly known as "surfer's eye" because surfer's can get a lot of sun exposure without wearing sunglasses, and are more prone to getting a pterygium. It's important to wear sunglasses and treat your dry eyes to control your pterygium. Now you will also know the the difference between pinguecula and a pterygium: pinguecula vs pterygium.
