Exploring and embodying our embryological development is one way we can approach releasing patterns of stress and trauma that are held in our current bodies.
Patterns of stress and trauma are usually approached through the nervous system. It can also be helpful to drop underneath the nervous system to the circulation of our blood.
Embryologically, blood develops before the nervous system is formed. Nerves follow the pathways laid down by the blood.
In this exploration, we focus on embodying our blood through playing with a water balloon. Bringing awareness to the weight and flow of our blood provides a base for our nervous system to feel supported and grounded.
Take two balloons: fill one with water and one with air. Feel the lightness of the air-filled balloon then play with the weight of the water-filled balloon.
The water-filled balloon represents the weight and flow of our red blood cells. Feeling the weight of the water-filled balloon can help us to feel the weight of our blood grounding us to the earth.
