(22 Jun 1979) The Communist Party staged a rally in support of the Sandinista guerrilla movement on Friday, while the Spanish government called for an immediate cease-fire in Nicaragua and the formation of a provisional government "representing all sectors of opinion in the country." More than 11,000 people attended the rally in Madrid. The main speaker at the rally was Santiago Carillo, general secretary of the Spanish Communist Party.
