Purdue University's Dr. Vilas Pol will attempt a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the fastest time to arrange all elements of the modern periodic table on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Henson Atrium, Forney Hall of Chemical Engineering.
Dr. Pol, Associate Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, will write all of the elements and assemble them in the correct order on individual two-inch tiles. A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD judge will be present to verify the achievement.
Dr. Pol says he hopes his attempt will motivate students. “As a professor, I wish that all my students know this modern periodic table by heart,” he explains. “It provides physical and chemical properties of elements, which can help predict chemical reactions.”
The event is free and open to the public, and media are invited to attend.
