The University of Melbourne’s Infectious Disease Epidemiologist Dr Kathryn Snow says the government’s decision to limit mass gatherings is “an appropriate measure”.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced mass gatherings will be restricted across the country to stop the disease from spreading exponentially.

Ms Snow told Sky News host Kieran Gilbert “the message is very clear that stopping large gatherings is absolutely the way to go and these are the types of measures that we’ve seen be successful in China and in Singapore."

"Bringing in these types of measures is absolutely the right thing to do," she said.
