I love to have this delicious dessert with a scoop or two of ice cream. It helps takes this dessert to a whole another level.
To get the crunch in the topping mixture I make use of corn flakes. You can find gluten-free varieties of these at most supermarkets. If not, you can find it for sale online.
You can also use gluten-free oats instead of corn flakes, but these are common to cause a reaction in some people.
The list of ingredients that you will need for this recipe is right below. They should be in the same order as we use them in the video.
Apple Filling
• 6-8 Apples, cut into chunks
• 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
• 2 Tbsp. Water
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
Crumble Topping
• ¾ Cup unsalted butter
• 1 Cup gluten free plain flour
• 1 Cup brown sugar
• 1 tsp. cinnamon, ground
• 1 tsp. nutmeg, ground
• 1 Cup Gluten Free cornflakes
Nuts such as walnuts, macadamias or even almonds work as a great replacement to corn flakes. Just make sure you chop the nuts for the best results.
Another recommendation is to add some sugar to the fruit if you love your desserts being sweet. Roughly half a cup of sugar should be more than enough to please any sweet tooth.
You’re able to use any variety of apple for this recipe. I typically use any that is lying around the house. With that said, if you want to buy the best type then look for a tasty baking variety.
I hope that this video helps with making this delicious gluten-free apple crisp. You should have a tasty filling and an incredibly crunch topping.
