Sky News contributor Gemma Tognini says the McGowan government has shown repeatedly "they don't have a plan beyond shutting things down" after it announced a snap three-day lockdown for Perth and Peel.
Premier Mark McGowan today announced the cities of Perth and Peel would enter a three-day lockdown from midnight tonight until midnight on Monday after an outbreak in the state's hotel quarantine.
Ms Tognini said a lockdown was a "lazy option" from the McGowan government and was a sign he had no faith in the state's health or tracking systems.
"If you've been following this developing story today you'd know there was advice given to the state government two weeks ago that the hotel in question should not be used for hotel quarantine," she said.
"Isn't it wonderful how this government conveniently ignores health advice when it chooses to and yet uses it to its advantage at other times?
"This government has no plan, it has no capability... we have a health system under incredible strain and a government that keeps being caught short.
"Every time it is caught short, it turns around and blames someone else's ineptitude... and we've got four more years of this? Four more years of reactionary, overreacting, lack of planning."
