STORYLINE:
More than a thousand people marched on the US embassy in Jakarta on Sunday to protest against the upcoming visit of US President Barack Obama.
Obama is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia in the coming week as part of his 10-day Asian tour which also takes in India, South Korea and Japan.
Protesters waived placards and posters criticising Obama and US policies with several demonstrators heard chanting "Reject Obama!"
The rally was organised by the Islamic organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia, who recently held a simalir rally outside the presidential palace.
The group is part on an international pan-Islamic organisation and have been consistent critics of the US policy in the Middle East.
"We're going to change our assessment of Obama only when Obama withdraws all the American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and stops the attacks in the border region of Pakistan and Afghanistan and stops the blind support for Israel," Hizb Tahrir spokesman Ismail Yusanto said Sunday.
President Obama is currently in India and is scheduled to touch down in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Since taking office, he has already twice postponed visits to Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, where he spent four years as a child.
