Sir Ratan Tata is now making a significant investment in the semiconductor sector.
Tata Group's company, Tata Electronics, has signed an agreement with Taiwan's PSMC to build India’s first semiconductor manufacturing plant in Gujarat.
This agreement was announced on Thursday, where PSMC will provide technology support to Tata Electronics' Dholera factory.
Tata Electronics is set to invest ₹91,000 crore in this project.
PSMC will assist in the design and construction of the project and provide technology and engineering support for creating an AI-enabled greenfield fabrication facility.
After the agreement was signed, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said in a press conference, “With this partnership with PSMC, Tata Group can take India forward in semiconductor manufacturing.”
This project by Tata Group is expected to create 1 lakh skilled jobs in Dholera, and the factory will have a monthly manufacturing capacity of 50,000 wafers.
This project marks a major step for India's semiconductor industry, aiming to strengthen the country's manufacturing sector even further.
