This is very similar to the first ever video in this set (i.e. Case 1: Group Velocity larger than Phase Velocity [ Ссылка ]). But in Case 1, the wave component with smaller wavelength (blue) was faster than the wave component with the larger wavelength (red). In this video, we show what happens if the wave component with larger wavelength (i.e. red sinusoid) is faster than the wave component with the smaller wavelength (i.e. the blue sinusoid).
The coherent and incoherent summation of these wave components at different locations along the time creates a positive phase velocity and a negative group velocity.
An important interpretation of group velocity is that it represents the velocity at which the energy or information is conveyed along a wave (see Wikipedia for further details).
