Have you ever heard of an Apple donuts/fritters before? If not, you should definitely try this recipe out ✨
The apple slices are dipped in a sweet batter & fried till crisp & golden brown 😻 Apple Jalebi is made in the same way the only difference is it’s dipped in chashni💕
I’ve glazed my donuts with a saffron icing today as the flavours of saffron beautifully pair with the flavours of apple ♥️
I made these using the juiciest & the crunchiest apples from @kinnaurharvest ♥️ These apples are a labour of 100% natural & organic farming 🍃
Here’s how you can make these at home☺️
Ingredients :
Apples - 2 (large)
Flour(Maida)- 1/2 Cup
Castor sugar - 1 tablespoon
Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
Baking Soda - 1/4th teaspoon
Milk - 1/2 Cup + 2 tablespoons
Vinegar - 1/2 tablespoon
Melted butter - 1/2 tablespoon
Salt - 1/8th teaspoon
Cardamom Pwd - a pinch
Icing Sugar - 6 tablespoons
Milk - 2 tablespoons
Saffron - a pinch
Neutral Oil for frying
Process :
• Start by whisking milk & vinegar together, keep aside
• To make the batter - in a bowl, add in the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cardamom powder & whisk in the milk & vinegar mixture
• Finish the batter by whisking in some metled butter, keep the batter aside & let it rest
• Just before frying the apple donuts, add baking soda to the batter & give it a good whisk
• To prep the apples - peel them, remove their core/ centre & slice them into thick rounds ( 4-5 slices per apple )
• Rub some lemon juice on both the sides of the apple to prevent oxidisation
• Alternatively, you can slice them and using a bottle cap cut the centre
• To fry the donuts - dip the apples in the batter & deep fry them in medium hot oil till golden brown
• Remove & place them on an absorbent paper to soak the excess oil
• To make the glaze - mix kesar with luke warm milk and let it sit for a couple of minutes
• Whisk in the kesar milk & icing sugar together
• The glaze should be smooth & lump-free
• Pour the glaze over the apple donuts & enjoy! 🍎🍩
