Synopsis:
Akayla (1991) is a gripping action thriller directed by Ramesh Sippy, featuring the legendary Amitabh Bachchan as CID Inspector Vijay Verma. A lonely cop with a tragic past, Vijay's life takes a dark turn when he crosses paths with the cunning criminal mastermind Tony Briganza (Keith Stevenson). After Tony escapes justice with the help of a corrupt lawyer, Vijay becomes obsessed with bringing him to justice.
As Vijay navigates his tumultuous life, he sacrifices his love for Seema for his friend Shekhar, unaware of Seema's feelings for him. Tragedy strikes when Tony and his mentally handicapped twin brother Jojo become embroiled in a deadly cat-and-mouse game, leading to the shocking murders of Vijay's closest friends. Devastated, Vijay finds solace in nightclub dancer Sapna (Amrita Singh), but the danger intensifies as Tony targets those Vijay loves.
With his loved ones at risk and driven by vengeance, Vijay defies the law to end Tony's reign of terror. Will he manage to deliver justice, or will his quest for revenge consume him? Akayla explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the dark side of justice, showcasing intense performances from an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Meenakshi Sheshadri, and Shashi Kapoor.
