Zenith's corporate comeback continued at Baselworld with the 2018 Zenith Defy Classic. A 41mm automatic powered by Zenith Elite caliber 670 and inspired by vintage Zenith Defy sports watches of the 1970s, the 2018 Defy Classic in titanium stands among the most lauded new luxury watches of this model year.
Each 2018 Zenith Defy Classic is housed in a 41mm grade 5 titanium case based on the vintage Zenith A384 an A385 case shapes of the 1970s. The blue rubber strap fitted to this example features a hobnail pattern on its top and a full titanium deployant clasp for security on the wrist.
Zenith's Elite caliber 670 provides automatic winding, a 50-hour power reserve, stop seconds (hacking), and a quick set date that can be set forward or backwards as required. The ultra thin automatic movement is constructed in-house at Zenith with grey PVD bridges an rotor that are skeletonized to maximize visibility of the mechanism. A silicon escapement operates unlubricated and provides long intervals between overhauls.
Zenith equips each Defy Classic with 100-meter water resistance and fully luminescent dials with super luminova paint. As a result, the Defy Classic presents watch buyers and watch collectors with an option that can be considered both sports watch and dress watch.
The 2018 Zenith Defy Classic is encased in 41mm of titanium surrounding a blue dial on a blue rubber strap. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The watch also measures 10.9mm in thickness and 45.1mm from lug-to-lug.
