Purvanchal Expressway (The Purvanchal Expressway) is an under construction 6-lane (3-lanes in each direction) access controlled expressway in India's Uttar Pradesh state. The expressway will connect Ghazipur town with the state capital, Lucknow (via- Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau). It is being developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) with a project cost of Rs. 22,495 Crore.
The project will be executed by Gayatri Projects, Apco Infratech, G R Infraprojects, PNC Infratech and Oriental Structural Engineers. The total project has been divided in 8 packages, with Gayatri Projects, G R Infraprojects and PNC Infratech allotted 2 packages each and Apco Infratech & Oriental Structural Engineers being awarded one package each. The easy bidding process has also resulted in 10% cost reduction for the project.
It will be about 340.824 km long expressway and will connect Lucknow to Ghazipur by passing through 09 districts: Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and will terminate in Ghazipur. The expressway is to be linked with Varanasi-Gorakhpur highway through a separate link Expressway.
