Israel’s foreign ministry has said European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell is not welcome to visit after he made comments in an article published last week criticising Israeli policies in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli officials said that Borrel’s comments equated Israelis killed in Palestinian attacks
with Palestinian militants killed in Israeli army operations.

The incident marked the latest sign of deteriorating relations between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s new far-right government and some of its closest allies.
