CA125 is a protein marker elevated in ovarian cancer, especially in epithelial tumors. While a useful diagnostic tool, elevated levels can occur in non-cancerous conditions.
Approximately 50% of individuals with stage 1 and stage 2 ovarian cancer do not exhibit elevated CA125 levels, while 75-90% of those with stage 3 and stage 4 ovarian cancer show elevated CA125 levels.
