**Update - November 4, 2024**: Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) has expanded its digital passport renewal service to Nigerian nationals residing in Canada through the NIS Immigration Service portal. Following this rollout, the service will be extended to Nigerians living in the United Kingdom, United States, and Italy starting November 15, with further expansion to Nigeria and other countries from December 1, 2024. Applicants will have the option to receive their renewed passports at their home address or the location where they submitted their application. NIS is also planning to launch an app in the coming months to facilitate easy passport renewal.
**January 9, 2024**: As of January 8, 2024, Nigerian Immigration Services has expanded online passport services for Nigerian nationals, both within Nigeria and abroad. Applicants can now apply for and renew passports entirely online—uploading photos and documents, making payments, scheduling biometrics appointments, and tracking application status digitally. Previously, applicants were required to submit documents in person. Passport application fees remain the same. This new online process aims to streamline application times and aligns with government initiatives to modernize passport services.
