When we think of being in a car accident, we tend to think of ourselves as the drivers and never the passengers. But even as a passenger, you are able to give information about the car accident and the events that led up to it.
Just like any witness, your testimony regarding the car accident is invaluable. You will need to answer some questions at a deposition in which the lawyer for each driver is present. This is a question and answer session in which both parties will ask you about the facts of the accident.
When asked to be at a deposition, you may be curious what questions you'll be asked. This can include what direction each vehicle was traveling in, what side of the road they were on, and what the weather was like? To narrow down how the accident happened you may be asked what color the traffic light was, was there a directional arrow, and did it look like the other car was going to make a turn? These questions, along with others, can help expand each driver's testimony and really set the scene on how the accident occurred. This is extremely important if the case goes to trial as this same type of questioning will allow the jury to picture what happened during the car accident. Depositions can be pretty long, some lasting hours as they must go through every second of the event and ask questions to construct what happened. Watch the video now to learn more.
