In this video I do a quick unboxing and run over the basics of the TASCAM US-16x08 USB multi-channel audio interface. This is a desktop standing or rack mountable unit (1U of rack space) and features MIDI in/out, 16 analogue inputs and 8 analogue outputs.
8 of the inputs are mic level preamps and the remaining 8 are switchable between line/instrument level.
I have purchased this unit to record live gigs from the direct outputs of my mixer, I only have use for line level inputs so I will be making a in-line converter/attenuator to bring the line level signal for inputs 1-8 down by roughly -50dB (video coming on this soon once the parts arrive!).
This interface was purchased from Scan Computers in Bolton (of the UK).
