Had a lucky escape!! The front brake pads' pin fell off and caused one pad to come out possibly because of the extreme nature of the gravel road. This happened about a few minutes into today's ride. Luckily I was cornering at a slower speed and didn't need any sudden braking. Phew!! Although I always check whether the brakes are working properly before starting the ride, who knew the pin was not skewed correctly to the point that there's no chance of it coming out suddenly. Lesson learned -- a couple more things to check at the start of the ride and a few additions to the weekly checklist. After finding out the issue, I rushed to my LBS, installed a new pair of pads, and ensured the pin was skewed correctly. Later, thrashed another 50 with a faster tempo! Rest day tomorrow.
