The strange letters MM and YY have a special meaning.
The MM / YY letters correspond to the expiration month and year of your credit card or your debit card.
It is also known as expiration date.
MM is month, and January is 01, February is 02 and December is 12.
YY is the last two digits of the year. For year 2024 it is 24, for 2022 it is 22.
The month and date are important if you are going to use the card for online purchases. Without expiration date you cannot make any online purchase.
It is as important as security code on your credit card.
The expiration date gives you an idea when the card will stop working and why your transaction will be declined.
But keep in mind, that expired credit card is not the only reason why your credit card transaction may be declined.
