Pakistan's Punjab province has banned most outdoor activities and ordered shops, markets and malls in some areas to close early. The rules meant to curb illnesses caused by intense air pollution were imposed on November 11, 2024. Schools and public spaces like parks and zoos will be closed until November 17 in many places including Lahore – a city now considered to have the world's worst air quality, according to live ratings from the Swiss company IQAir.
