[Craig] Hi, I am Dr. Craig Jonov. I am board certified cosmetic surgeon. I practice at the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery in Lynnwood, Washington, just north of Seattle. Today, we're going to discuss breast augmentation or breast surgery. A breast augmentation is basically a procedure that helps enhance the size, shape and symmetry of a woman's breast. There area lot of factors that are involved in making that decision of the proper placement, the proper style, the amount of tissue, the quality of the tissue and the desires of the woman and what size they want to be.
The main reasons initially and a lot of it has to do with the age of presentation. Younger women that happen to have smaller breast, usually looking for just a larger size, maybe more proportionate to their body. They maybe a little smaller so they want a little bit more shape and projection. Then it's counseling them on choosing the right size and not trying to go too big but trying to just fit their body and what fits best with the type of tissues that they have, the way that they present, some of the skeletal components. There's more than just the breast itself that are into account to try to make a good outcome for the patient. It's really symmetrical with shape and size of the breast into their full body for the whole overall view.
