Jennifer Jason Leigh is no stranger to playing complex and dark characters, but her role as Lorraine Lyon in Fargo might be one of her most challenging yet. Lorraine is a ruthless loan shark who calls herself "the Queen of debt" and has no qualms about hurting anyone who owes her money. Leigh says she was drawn to the character because of her unpredictability and intelligence. "She's always one step ahead of everyone else, and she's very good at manipulating people and situations. She's also very funny and witty, which I love." Leigh adds that playing Lorraine was a lot of fun, but also very demanding. "She's very intense and relentless, and she never backs down from a fight. She's also very lonely and isolated, and I think that's what drives her to be so ruthless. She has a lot of pain and anger inside her, and she doesn't care about anyone but herself."
