Founded by the Berbers, enhanced by the Romans and ultimately home to Morocco's first Arabic royal family, Volubilis stands in ruins in a high valley north of Meknes and just five kilometers from the historic mountain town of Moulay Idriss.
It is a World Heritage Site where you can roam freely through the remains of ancient houses, bathhouses, temples, arches and aqueducts. It's also a place of gentle beauty, surrounded by mountains and with rolling hills covered in olive trees unchanged through the centuries.
