Sound Therapy Radio ......A weekly radio show up at SFU, on top of Burnaby Mt. at CJSF 90.1 FM radio station.
A show which promotes local Vancouver Indie scene musicians and promotes the concept of ..." Be Kind To You Mind "
Sound Therapy delves into the intricate world of the creative mind, interweaving great music, brought to the show by Music Director John Prentice, who also documents the show with photos and videos, which can be seen at the links below.
This episode music guest was local singer songwriter/ Author Ben Everyman who sang his song called " Rock N Roll Star " off his cd named: " Ben Everyman Iconoplastic "
Ben Everyman wields the hands of a folk-guitarist, the heart of a whiskey-soaked country balladeer and a razor-sharp tongue. The singer and songwriter based in Vancouver, BC squeezes guitar, foot percussion and a quirky vocal style into a compact package. Equal parts anti-folk and vintage country, Ben writes songs dripping with sardonic wit and simple melodies that stick to the roof of your mouth.
Currently, Ben is recording his second LP Deprecado, which is now available.Ben's passion is divided between local shows and a rekindled love for street performing. The follow up album promises more of Everyman's offbeat lyrics and twisted-country-themed roots, this time with full-band support. There are also plans for a western Canadian summer tour in support.
Iconoplastic, the debut album by Ben Everyman brings minimalist folk and cynical lyricism together in an 8 song oddity that touches upon the humorous and the melancholy, often at the same time. While many singer/songwriters muse upon lost loves and wail upon the sea of personal emotion, Ben Everyman prefers to re-imagine the mundane; birds and bees shed their tired metaphors and are transformed back in to the irritating pests they really are. Since its release in Feb 2011, the album received national press and became a college radio favorite charting among the top ten folk albums across western
