China has been building what it calls "the world's biggest camera surveillance network". Across the country, 600 million CCTV cameras are already in place and new ones will be installed in the coming years.
Many of the cameras are fitted with artificial intelligence, including facial recognition technology. China is pursuing an ambitious plan to make an omnipresent video surveillance network to track where people are and what they're up to.
