Wakanda Forever sets new Disney+ record for Marvel - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has become the most-watched Marvel premiere on Disney+. While Disney has not revealed the viewing figures, a social media post reveals that the second instalment in the Black Panther franchise achieved the feat in the first five days it was on the streaming service. Released in cinemas on November 11, the film made a quick transition to streaming after coming to Disney+ on Wednesday, February 1. The film sees Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M;Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje fight to protect Wakanda in the wake of King T'Challa's death. The sequel follows the death of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman in 2020, following his four-year battle with colon cancer. Creators of the film confirmed his character would not be replaced, with the second film instead focusing on the wider residents of Wakanda. Queen Ramonda actress Bassett has made Marvel history after receiving an Oscar nomination for her role as Queen Ramonda. The actor, who has been nominated for a supporting actress Oscar, is the first MCU star to ever receive an acting nomination from the Academy.
