Hi everyone,
Welcome to the new episode on the jungle. As you may notice I'm a lot into nu-disco / deep-tech / synth-whatever music things. Even I'm still exploring and discovering what the current situation of the industry offers, t may be so confusin and frustating dealing with genres, subgenres and styles. What's nu-disco, what's normal disco, what's dark-disco, or what's synth-pop, is it the same than synthwave? And of top of all those questions, there's a main one: what's indie-dance and why Beatport did create this category on their store?
As it's not easy to answer all of this questions objectively, I'm posting djsets speaking more about styles or moods than of genres. So this S02E19 episode is about indie-dance as generic "label" with includes nu-disco, some deep tech and synthpop music from the indie-dance category on Beatport.com.
Is indie-dance a genre? It depends, is it a genre for you? Some artists in Kontakt label are considered publishing indie-dance music, sharing some details and attributes on its drum patters and basslines that to me, comes from nu-disco. I may be wrong, it may be a personal opinion.
Thoughts are welcome.
Enjoy the set!
