WATERVLIET -- Homes and businesses near the Watervliet Elementary School were evacuated around 8:15 a.m. today after a construction crew pierced a natural gas line. According to National Grid, they have shut the gas off and are working on repairing the 2 inch ruptured line that's located near the school on 10th Avenue off of 25th Street. Repairs should be completed sometime this afternoon.
