NSW Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg has slammed his own party for "importing US culture wars" into the election campaign.
Mr Bragg pointed to the trans athlete debate surrounding Katherine Deves' campaign in Warringah.
"The idea that you'd import US culture wars into Australia is an electorally bankrupt strategy," Mr Bragg told Sky News Australia.
"I'm not sure how these issues received so much prominence – but they're not the issues that are on the minds of people."
