Melanie Barwick, scientist and director of knowledge translation in the Child Health Evaluative Sciences program, Sick Kids' Research Institute, reflects on key project learning and the unique contribution of The Change Foundation and Health Strategy Innovation Cell's joint project, Using Social Media to Improve Healthcare Quality. She was also part of the 11-member ginger council providing strategic advice to the project team. Barwick emphasizes the need to use these new social media tools to help healthcare researchers and practitioners better meet patient needs. She commends both project partners for taking leadership to share best practices in this fast-growing area.
"Other organizations who have an interest in this area don't need to reinvent the wheel, don't need to start from scratch. They can learn from the experiences, processes, policies and procedures that other organizations have already taken into consideration." - Melanie Barwick
