Q: Dear Dr. Susan, since my divorce I've been looking for someone new with no luck. I'm worried that there's baggage from my previous relationship clouding my ability to attract a good man, any advice?
It is going to be hard to begin a new relationship with "baggage" from your previous relationship. Invest time in getting rid of the baggage and developing a relationship with yourself. If we are not attractive to ourselves, we cannot attract a good man. Take the time to work through old hurts, resentments and disappointments that may be part of the baggage and come to terms with your past. As you forgive and forget the past this will allow you to move forward with new ideas, and ideals about a relationship. This may entail speaking with a psychologist and/or reading and gathering information to learn the skills and techniques to have a fulfilling relationship with yourself and someone else.
